Last Time Out: Vassar battled back but settled for a 2-2, double-overtime draw with Oneonta (2-2-3) at Gordon Field on Saturday. After falling behind 1-0 early in the first half, Vassar's Savannah Cutler and Rebecca Andrews scored consecutive goals for a 2-1 advantage. But Oneonta struck again with just under 15 minutes remaining in regulation to level the game at 2-all. Overtime ensued, but neither team could find their golden goal.

A Look At The Brewers (1-4-1):
  • Vassar has played four of its first five games of the season either on the road or at neutral sites. Eight of the Brewers' 17 regular-season games are at home this season.
  • Jordyn Matthews and Audrey Pillsbury lead the Brewer offense with two goals apiece, including the game-winner by Matthews against New Paltz on Sept. 1.
  • Rory Chipman has also chipped in on offense, totaling three points off a goal and an assist.
  • Sara Seeper and Jordan Moss have been generous in lending a helping pass, as they each lead the team with two assists on the season.
  • Goalkeepers Stephanie Tapolsky and Phoebe Reuben have both spent time in net. Tapolsky has made 17 saves for a 1-4-0 record, including a shutout, while Reuben has made two saves for a 0-0-1 mark.
  • The Brewers have outshot opponents 91-60 overall and 44-28 in shots-on-goal.
  • Six of the Brewers' seven total goals have been scored in the second half. Also, six of their seven goals have been assisted.
  • The Brewers look to build upon last season, in which they finished 9-7-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Liberty League play. Vassar notched a spot in the Liberty League Championship, ultimately falling 5-0 to No. 3 William Smith College in the semifinals.
  • Vassar showed incredible endurance last season, playing 10 extra overtime periods in 2015. In four games that went into overtime, the Brewers walked away with either a win or a draw. Already this season, the Brewers have forced an extra period twice (against WCSU on Sept. 7 and Oneonta on Sept. 17).

A Look At The Red Hawks (5-1-1):
  • MSU opened its season, going undefeated for the first five games before suffering its first setback against Swarthmore College on Sept. 14. The Red Hawks have played once since that loss, beating Ramapo College 3-0 on Sept. 17.
  • Eight different Red Hawks have found the back of the net, led by Ashley Koester, who has 11 points on four goals and three assists. Emily Beenders (four goals, two assists) and Tyler Madison (four goals, one assist) have also been strong on offense.
  • Jennie Hornstra has been a significant source in the clutch, as two of her three goals this season have been game-winners.
  • Goalkeepers Alyson Burns and Molly Barrow have split time in net. Burns has made 11 saves for a 2-1-1 record, including three shutouts, while Barrow has made four saves for a 3-0-0 record, all three wins being clean sheets.
  • The Red Hawks have outshot opponents 97-51 overall and 52-16 in shots-on-goal. Of their 22 total goals, 16 have been assisted.
  • The MSU defense has been solid, allowing just one goal over seven contests.
  • The Red Hawks look to build upon last season, in which they finished 15-4-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play.
  • After opening 2015 with a loss, MSU went unbeaten for the following nine games.
  • In the 2015 NJAC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship, MSU fell 1-0 to Rutgers-Newark before competing in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. The Red Hawks beat Springfield College before falling in the second round against Messiah College.

Against MSU All-Time: Vassar is 3-7 versus MSU all-time, dating back to their first meeting in 1993. The Brewers most recently suffered a 5-0 setback at home last season.

Next Up: The Brewers return to Poughkeepsie for games against Skidmore College (Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.), Clarkson University (Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.), St. Lawrence University (Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.) and Mount Saint Mary College (Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.).
