Vassar starts the season 1-0 for the fourth straight year and wins for the fifth straight time against the Knights. Mount Saint Mary opens the new campaign 0-1.
How It Happened
- Vassar wasted little time getting the eventual game winner with senior Gianna Panarelli (Jensen Beach, FL) scoring her first of the season at the 14:30 mark of the tilt to give the Brewers an early 1-0 lead.
- Vassar grabbed a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission with a late first half goal.
- Sophomore Braelynn Tomanio (Alexandria, VA) played a ball from midfield through to Cipolla who deposited her first collegiate goal at 41:09.
- Leading 2-0 at halftime, Vassar closed the opening 45 minutes with an 8-1 advantage in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
- Vassar picked up where it left off late in the first half early in the second frame, doubling its lead to 4-0 on goals from Valle and Alice Crowley (St. Louis, MO) just over two-and-a-half minutes apart.
- Ava Holman (St. Louis, MO) picked up an assist on the Valle goal before Valle closed out a three-point night with a helper on Crowley's first marker of the season.
- Senior Cecelia Wager (Brookline, MA) closed out the scoring in the game in the 59th minute when she cleaned up a rebound and potted her first of the year at the 58:34 mark of the contest.
- Vassar stifled the Knights in the second half, holding a 9-1 advantage in shots and a 4-0 margin in corner kicks.
For The Brewers
- Valle finished off the win with a goal and a helper, pushing her career point total to 15 on the strength of five goals and five assists.
- Panarelli scored her 20th career goal and pushed her career point total to 44 with the game winning goal on Tuesday.
- Crowley, who missed the 2025 season due to injury, score her first goal since October 18, 2024, with Tuesday's fourth marker of the game.
- Cipolla found the scoring column in her first collegiate game.
- Wager found the back of the net for the third time in her career with Tuesday's marker.
