Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Vassar Lead Slips Away At St. Lawrence

CANTON, NY (April 16, 2016) — Liam Moriarty posted three points, as the Vassar College men's lacrosse team fell to St. Lawrence University on the road Saturday, 14-5.

With the loss, the Brewers fall to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Saints improve to 12-1 and 4-1 in the Liberty League.

Moriarty, who totaled two goals and an assist, has now scored in all but two contests this season. Three other Brewers scored against the Saints, arguably the best defensive team in the conference. Sam Houston-Read tallied a goal and an assist, while Brandon DeStasio and Noah Parson each potted one.

Goalkeeper Brandon Crecco took the loss despite blocking nine shots in 30 minutes, while Ryan Fisher earned the win with five saves through three quarters, as the Saints outshot the Brewers 59-17.

Jeremy Vautour paced the Saints with six goals, while Conor Healey had two. Connor Brimley, Jon Fairbanks, AJ Schmidt, Jamie DeNicola, Dan Wyman and Andrew Jarrett all found the back of the net as well.

The Brewers were competitive early, taking a quick 2-1 lead over the Saints in the first quarter, thanks to goals from Moriarty and DeStasio.

But St. Lawrence quickly responded, scoring seven straight goals over the first and second quarter. Parson momentarily halted the barrage with his 30th goal of the season before the Saints scored an additional four in a row.

Moriarty ended the third period with a buzzer-beater, his 12th goal of the season. St. Lawrence outscored Vassar 2-1 in the final frame, with Houston-Read breaking up the scoring with his 20th goal of the season.

The Vassar men's lacrosse team hopes to end its three-game road trip on a high note when it faces Williams College in Williamstown, MA on Wednesday April 20. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
