WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (April 20, 2016) -- Vassar College freshman standout James Thomas posted a career-high six points Wednesday afternoon at Williams College, but the Brewer men's lacrosse team was topped by the host Ephs 14-10 in non-conference action from Farley-Lamb Field. 

Thomas scored his six points on three goals and three assists Wednesday, eclipsing his previous game-high of five points set back in a win over Mount Saint Mary College on March 23. The Brewers (7-6) fell behind 5-0 early on before Thomas ended the Eph run right before the end of the first quarter with help from Brandon DeStasio. 

The Brewers pulled to within three just before the halftime intermission as senior Noah Parson chalked up a tally with seven seconds to play in the half to send the game into the break at 8-5. Vassar got as close as two twice, the latest at 12-10 after a man-up goal by Thomas at 6:39 of regulation, but two late Williams' goals saw VC's comeback chances go up in smoke. 

Parson led all scorers with four goals on Wednesday, as he chalked up his 34th of the season. He is now just one tally short of tying his single season record for goals in a season, as he chalked up 35 last season as a junior. It was also the 12th time in his career that he has scored four or more goals in a contest. 

Thomas led all Brewers with three assists and four ground balls, while Gianni Gelormino also had three ground balls for the Brewers. Vassar was outshot 67-28 on the evening, while also trailing in the ground ball department 49-19. 

Vassar keeper Matthew Boyd made 16 saves on the night, while Miles McCarthy stopped five Vassar shots to earn the win for the Ephs. Michael Fahey led Williams with two goals and four assists, and Jack Lauroesch also posted three goals in the win. 

The Brewers will now jump back into Liberty League action on Saturday, hosting No. 2 Rochester Institute of Technology at noon on Gordon Field. Vassar will honor its three seniors, Parson, Nick Page and T.J. Morrow, prior to the contest.
