POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 11, 2016) – The Vassar College baseball team scored just once over 14 innings of baseball Monday afternoon, with Will Coleman and Eddie Miller each tossing complete games as the Brewers fell in both ends of a Liberty League doubleheader to Clarkson University. The Golden Knights earned game one 7-0, before taking the nightcap 7-1.

Game 1 – Clarkson 7, Vassar 0
Clarkson sophomore starter Will Coleman allowed just five hits and struck out 10 Brewer hitters in going the distance in the seven inning contest, while Chris Miller posted three hits in the 7-0 win for the Golden Knights.

CU (6-12, 3-5 Liberty) scored a single run in each of the second through fifth innings, and busted the contest open with three runs in the top of the sixth, as Greg Jasek capped the rally with a two-run single to make the score 7-0. That was plenty for Coleman, as he allowed just one runner to reach third base.

Senior first baseman Brooks English was 2-for-3 for the Brewers, while junior Mike Koscielniak was 1-for-3 with a double. Sophomore shortstop Matt Hernandez also had a hit, while Nick Johnson also had a knock for the Brewers.

Miller posted two doubles in the game for CU, while Dom Pirro was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Connor Martin had three hits with a double. Coleman also had two hits and two runs in addition to his stellar pitching performance.

Game 2 – Clarkson 7, Vassar 1
The Brewers were held five hits for the second consecutive contest, as Eddie Miller allowed no earned runs over seven innings to complete the sweep for the Golden Knights. Clarkson jumped out in front in the first inning, as Brad Pearson singled in a run to make the game 1-0.

Vassar evened the ball game in the bottom of the fourth, as Nick Johnson led off with a double to left center, eventually scoring on a misplay by Clarkson first baseman Greg Jasek. The Golden Knights though would tally two runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning to pull away for the win.

Vassar College starter Trent Berg fanned eight batters on the game, allowing four earned runs over 5.2 innings of work, surrendering five hits. Junior reliever Robert Winkelmann got his lone batter he faced, as he worked in his team-leading 11^th contest of the season.

Freshman Matt Schwartz was 2-for-3 to raise his average to .333, while Denis Shanagher was also 1-for-3. Koscielniak also singled for the Brewers, as he has now posted a hit in his last five games, the longest current hit streak on the squad. Johnson also upped his reached base safely streak to 11 games.

Coleman added two more hits in game two for CU, while Connor Dietrich was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Pearson added two hits, a run and an RBI as well for the Golden Knights, who took three of four from VC this weekend.

Vassar (10-12, 6-6 Liberty) will host Old Westbury Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. in non-conference action from Prentiss Field. The Brewers are in the midst of a 15-game home stand, the longest such streak in program history.
