ROCHESTER, NY (February 28, 2016) — The Vassar College men's tennis team showed dominance in its 9-0 shutout of Rochester Institute of Technology on the road Sunday.
With the win, the Brewers improve to 4-4, while the Tigers fall to 0-1.
Nick Litsky and
Gray Thurstone got the Brewers on the board with an 8-2 win against Jason Alexander and Jared Raphael at No. 3 doubles. Vassar continued to roll when
Daniel Cooper and
Nick Zuczek defeated Ken Chou and Jared Ingoglia, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles, and
Evan Udine and
Alexander Luckmann secured the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory over Ben Lynaugh and Chandler Daub at the two spot.
The Brewers controlled the rest of the match in singles.
Juan Felipe Laso took down Chou, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4 singles before Cooper clinched the team win with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Ingoglia at the two spot.
Litsky went on to beat Daub at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, Udine defeated Lynaugh at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 7-6, and
Jamie Anderson topped Ian Dansereau, 6-1, 6-2, in the fifth match.
Nick Lee rounded the day, overtaking Patrick Mathews in the super tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-4, 10-4, at No. 6 singles.
The Vassar men's tennis team heads to the Big Apple, where it will face New York University on Sunday, March 6 at 12 p.m.
