Last Time Out: In the spring season opener, Vassar battled against Division I Army West Point, but ultimately fell on the road, 7-0. The Brewers fought the whole way, beginning in No. 1 doubles, where
Hanna McGuire (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa) and
Shayna Becker (Sherman Oaks, CA/University) competed in a hard-fought 6-4 loss.
Morgane Flournoy (Grosse Pointe, MI/Grosse Pointe South) stood out in singles, coming back to force a tiebreaker. But the freshman ultimately fell, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4, to Leslie Frankland for the No. 6 spot.
A Look At The Muhlenberg College Mules: Muhlenberg will be looking for its first win after falling 9-0 to Wilkes University on the road Oct. 6. The closest defeat came in No. 3 singles when Taylor Hoffman trumped Molly Kowalski, who is no longer listed on the roster, 6-3, 6-2. The Mules hope to build upon their 2014-15 season, in which they finished above .500 with a 7-8 mark.
Previous Meeting: In the team's most recent meeting, the Brewers bested the Mules, 8-1, on Feb. 22, 2014.
Kelsey Van Noy (Houston, TX/Duchesne Academy Sacred Heart), a sophomore at the time, defeated Sharon Resnikoff, 6-0, 6-4, in No. 5 singles to clinch the match-winning point.
Tough Task: When Vassar played D-I Army in its opener, the Golden Knights already had a few games under their belt. Defeating a D-I opponent would have been a tough task regardless, but the Golden Knights getting a head start didn't make it any easier.
Looking Ahead: The Vassar women's tennis team will stay on the road to play Rochester Institute of Technology (0-2) in Rochester, NY on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m.
