MIDDLETOWN, CT (February 13, 2016) – A trip to Wesleyan College was on the agenda for the Vassar College men's squash team Saturday afternoon, but the Brewers were unable to trip up either opponent they faced, falling 9-0 to both Tufts University and the host Cardinals.
Tufts 9, Vassar 0The Jumbos were able to capture all nine flights on Saturday in the opening match of the day, though VC had some highlights on the day.

Vincent Mencotti faced Braden Chiulli, and played well despite the 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 score. No. 8
Richard Bryenton went the distance in his match with Danny Fischer, falling in five sets. In the match, Fischer earned the first set 11-7, but Bryenton responded with a gutsy 14-12 win to tie the match at one.
Bryenton would again get tripped up, falling in the third set 11-6, but once again rallied to deadlock the contest at two games apiece with an 11-8 win. In the final game, Bryenton pushed Fischer to the limit but dropped a heartbreaking 11-7 decision in the fifth. Senior
Ben Kurchin had an exciting match in the opening set, falling 16-14, and
Tim Boycott also had a strong match at No. 5 in dropping a 11-6, 11-8, 12-10 decision.
Wesleyan 9, Vassar 0The Cardinals were able to defend their home courts on Saturday, playing well throughout the ladder in earning the 9-0 sweep. Mencotti dropped an 11-3, 11-5 and 11-5 match against Guy Davidson at No. 1, and senior Tim Veit took on a national-ranked opponent in Raheem Logan, falling 11-3, 11-4 and 11-2 at No. 2. The Brewers finished their dual match season Saturday with a 1-13 record with the pair of losses.
VC will now head to the College Squash Association Championships next Friday through Sunday at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
