BRADENTON, FL (March 15, 2015) - Eight different Brewers recorded a goal, led by eight points (2 G, 6 A) from junior Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) as Vassar topped Keene State 16-10 in the team's first game of the Spring Fling Lacrosse Tournament Sunday evening. Senior Dara Davis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) had a game-high four goals for the Brewers while adding an assist, and junior Kim Mulvehill (Sudbury, MA/Chapel Hill - Chauncey Hill) notched her second consecutive hat trick. The Brewers move to 1-1 on the year with the win, while the Owls drop to 0-5 with the loss.

Vassar came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, scoring four consecutive goals in the opening ten minutes at G.T. Bray Park to take an early lead on the Owls. Keene State finally found the net at the 21:02 mark, getting an unassisted goal from Jenna Bellano to cut the Brewer lead to 4-1. VC poured it on from that point forward, as Davis, Mulvehill, sophomore Julia Trudell (Newton, CT/Newton), freshman Storm Sideleau (Hopkinton, NH/Kimball Union Academy) and sophomore Brittany Botticelli (Commack, NY/Commack) combined for six unanswered goals over a 15 minute span.

The Owls were able to tally three of the final four goals in the half, but the damage was done as VC carried an 11-4 advantage into the break.

VC remained in control at the start of the second half, as Goldstein put away her first of the game on a dish from Davis with 26:52 to play. Keene State managed the next goals, before sophomore Sydney Spadinger (Shelton, CT/Shelton) and Davis tacked on two more to make it 14-6 Brewers with 16:23 to play.

Keene State made things interesting down the stretch, going on a four-goal scoring tear towards the end of game. An unassisted goal from Polly Grey cut the lead to four with 5:04 left in regulation, but Goldstein and Davis shut the door with a pair of goals in the final minutes to seal the six-goal victory.

Senior goalkeeper Kate Pula (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) made two saves and allowed only four goals in 30 minutes of play to earn the victory. Trudell had a game-high four caused turnovers, while the Brewers were 15-17 on clears.

VC will be back in action on Tuesday, March 17 for their second match of the week against Stevenson University at 9:30 am at G.T. Bray Park.

Notes:

Isabelle Goldstein's six assists were the most in a game by a Vassar player since Sarah Warner ('11) recorded six in a 13-10 win over Western Connecticut on April 19, 2011.

Goldstein is now third all-time in Vassar history in career assists, recording the 56th of her career against Keene State. With her sixth assist of the night, Goldstein passed Chapel Love ('98) on the all-time list and now only trails Christine Eaccarino ('09, 57 A) and Ali Fantl ('07, 78 A).
