HAVERFORD, PA (November 14, 2015) – The Vassar College women's squash team traveled to Haverford College Saturday afternoon for a pair of matches against host Haverford and Dickinson College, earning a 9-0 win over Haverford while falling to the Red Devils in action from the GIAC Squash Courts.
Dickinson 9, Vassar 0In the opening contest of the afternoon, the Brewers couldn't earn any points in the match, but did battle throughout. In No. 1 singles, sophomore
Hannah Nice (Hanover, NH/Hanover) took a quick lead with an 11-5 win, but dropped the next two games 11-3 to fall behind 2-1. In the fourth set, Nice turned the tables on Hedvika Suchankova from Dickinson with an 11-3 win to force the fifth game, but Nice was unable to earn the win with an 11-6 loss.
At No. 2, freshman
Fiona Agger (Brooklyn, NY/Saint Ann's School) opened her match with an 11-7 win over Domenica Romo. Agger couldn't keep the momentum going though, as Romo rallied for a 7-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-7 victory. No other Vassar player was able to capture a game in their match, though
Emma Glickman (Livingston, NJ/Golda Ochs Academy) played well in defeat at No. 6.
Vassar 9, Haverford 0Vassar College was able to respond from the first match of the day with a 9-0 blanking of the host Fords, thanks to some gritty play from the Brewers. Nice was unchallenged at No. 1, picking up an 11-5, 11-5 and 11-7 win over Isabelle Gotuaco.
Agger dropped the second set in her match to even the score at one game apiece, but Agger allowed just eight more points to capture an 11-7, 8-11, 11-2 and 11-6 victory at No. 2. Fellow freshman
Jiamin Wu (Singapore, Singapore/Raffles Institution) was a winner at No. 3 after an 11-1, 11-5, 10-12 and 11-4 victory.
Sophomore
Cherylann Mucciolo (Shohola, PA/Blair Academy) played a grueling five-set match, twice fending off rallies to earn an 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-5 win at No. 4. Junior
Diana Howland (New York, NY/Phillips Academy Andover) led the entire way, booking a four-set, 11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 13-11 win at No. 5, and Glickman tallied a four-set win as well at No. 6 with game scores of 11-3, 11-5, 1-11 and 11-7.
Team captain and senior
Steph Zhu (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) chalked up another win Saturday thanks to a 11-4, 10-12, 12-10 and 11-4 victory at No. 7, and
Xinran Qi (Beijing, China/Beijing National Day) earned Vassar's sixth four-set win over the match with an 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7 triumph. The final match of the day for VC also went the way of the Brewers, as newcomer
Julia Pollak (San Francisco, CA/Lick-Wilmerding) knocked off Atalanta Henderson 13-11, 11-4 and 11-5 in straight sets. In exhibition action, sophomore
Kelly Rissman (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) earned an 11-2, 11-5 win to complete the sweep for VC.

The Brewers will head to New London, CT on Saturday, December 5 to take on Mount Holyoke College and host Connecticut College.
