Last Time Out: Vassar had several players in action at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Joss Courts this past weekend. Junior Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep. School) advanced to the final day of competition before falling in the semifinals of the singles bracket. (Results)

ITA Rewind: Vassar finished 9-6 overall in matches at the ITA Tournament, going 7-4 in singles and 2-2 in doubles competition. Nick Litsky advanced to the singles semifinals for the second consecutive year, while senior Daniel Cooper (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) picked up two wins in solo play.

A Look at the Raptors: Bard enters Saturday' matchup 1-1 on the season in dual matches with two more to play before wrapping up its fall season. The Raptors dropped their season opener to Union on September 12, then followed it up with a 7-2 win over Mt. St. Mary (NY) on September 17. Bard was scheduled to have another dual match against St. Joseph's (LI) on September 19, which was cancelled. Bard is coming off a 5-9 overall record and 0-7 mark in the Liberty League last year.

Bard enjoyed some newfound success at the ITA Regionals last weekend, as sophomore Keillor Mose rallied from a set down to stun RPI senior Anthony Kim in the first round. Mose is just the second Bard player to ever win a match at the ITA Regionals, and has played both No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Raptors this season.

Last Meeting: Vassar knocked off visiting Bard College when the teams met last fall on October 1, sweeping the doubles matches and winning five of six in singles to earn the 8-1 victory.

A Look at the Dutchmen: Union picked up a win over Bard in its lone dual match of the fall season, and will wrap up its 2015 slate Saturday vs. the Brewers. Union finished 3-10 overall last season with a 2-5 mark in the Liberty League. Head coach Brian Bowman is in his first season as both the men's and women's tennis coach at Union College after spending the last three seasons as an assistant at Rochester University.

Senior Anthony Laurencio fell to senior Daniel Cooper 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the ITA Tournament last weekend, while fellow Dutchman Zach Kaplan also suffered a round one exit. The doubles draw saw Laurencio teamed with Max McGeown in an 8-5 loss to RIT's Ken Chou and Jared Raphael, 8-5.

Last Meeting: Vassar swept singles, and won two out of three doubles matches to best Union College 8-1 in the team's Liberty League opener when the teams last met on September 27, 2014.

Wins at the Top: Despite dropping the team decision to the Coast Guard, the Brewers still had some bright spots. The team's No. 1-3 players (Nick Litsky, Daniel Cooper and Juan Felipe Laso) all claimed victories, while Litsky and freshman Nick Lee (Larchmont, NY/Mamaroneck) pulled off a win at No. 3 doubles. Vassar will have an opportunity to try a handful of different combinations at doubles throughout the fall.

Local Success: Vassar had a handful of players in action in August at the Dutchess County Men's Amateur Open Singles Championship. Juan Felipe Laso took home the tournament trophy, besting teammate Evan Udine in the final at the Dutchess County Tennis Club in Rhinebeck, NY.

Geography Lesson: Vassar's 2015-16 roster features players from seven different states and one international (Ecuador). The most populous hometown state is California, with three players hailing from the Golden State.

End of Fall: Vassar will end its 2015 season on October 3, before returning to competition next February.
