A Look At The Brewers
The Brewers (7-4, 2-3 Liberty League) recently lost two Liberty League matchups due to one-sided halves. On Friday, Vassar fell to William Smith College 18-13 after the Herons compiled a 12-6 first half. Things looked smoother during Saturday's game at Union College with a 6-6 first half but the Dutchwomen piled on 10 goals in the second half. Junior Dara Davis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) led the Brewers in both contests, recording four points from two goals and two assists against the Herons and four goals and one assist against the Dutchwomen.

Davis leads the Brewer offense with 38 points from 30 goals and eight assists. She is 11-of-17 from free position shots this season and also has won a team-high 32 draw controls. Sophomore Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) has double the assists of any Brewer with 16 and adds 21 goals for a team-second 37 points. Junior Jacqueline Palma (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset Junior-Senior) paves the way defensively with 28 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers. Junior Kate Pula (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) has saved 48 shots this season and is currently 4-3.

A Look At The Golden Knights
Clarkson recently fell to Oswego State 14-5 at home. The Lakers earned the early halftime lead of 8-2 with a span of seven unanswered goals from 19:22 to 3:38 before Paige Fayette scored an unassisted goal with 11 seconds remaining. Every goal except for one was unassisted on the day. Christine Wright scored three of the Golden Knights' goals and Kate Dillion added the last. More recently, the Knights battled a back-and-forth matchup with Liberty League opponent, St. Lawrence but fell in the end 10-8. Abby Doyle recorded scored three goals to lead Clarkson.

Fayette leads the Knights with 32 goals and 12 assists for 44 points and also has the team-third 23 grounds balls but leads with 28 turnovers. Cassie Grace has 24 ground balls but Hanna Gleason leads the category with 25 and also the team's best, 15 caused turnovers. Wright has the most assists with 18 and adds 21 goals for 39 points. Kara DiNatale has allowed 71 goals this season but has stopped another 57 shots from finding twine in her 1-5 win/loss record.

Against Clarkson All-Time
The Vassar-Clarkson series has favored the Brewers since it started in 1997. The Brewers won the first two games in dominant fashion with a 14-2 win in '97 and a 13-3 victory in '01. The Golden Knights came back the next year for the series first overtime game and won 14-13 and then defeated the Brewers 11-3 in '03. Since 2004, Vassar held the winning streak until April 28, 2012 when the Golden Knights broke the spree 13-10 on their turf. In last year's meeting, Clarkson came out as the victory in the second overtime meeting of the series, 14-12.

A Look At The Saints
St. Lawrence topped Clarkson in a Liberty League matchup 10-8 in their rescheduled meeting in Potsdam on Wednesday. The Saints got the early 8-2 lead in the first half behind the scoring effort of Hannah Calvelli. With their offense only managing two goals in the second half, it proved to be enough when the Saints' defense kept the Knights at bay.

Carly VanTassel leads the Saints with 16 goals and three assists for 19 points. Caroline Bailey is in close pursuit with 14 goals and four assists for 18 points. None of the Saints have over five assists and the team totals 21 while its opponents have amassed 43. Addie Cunningham will more than likely be the starting in goal for the Saints with 110 saves on the season, only allowing 112 to slip by after facing 235 shots this year.

Against St. Lawrence All-Time
The Brewers are 4-11 against the Saints after first meeting in Panama City in 1999. The Saints pulled out the 13-11 win in that contest and continued to win the next five occurrences. In last year's game, Vassar topped the then visiting team 13-9.

We Shoot! We Score!
The Brewers are the No. 1 team in the Liberty League in terms of goals per game, points per game, shots per game and shots on goal per game. The goals per game statistic is also good enough for #80 in the national with an average of 12.73. Augustana (IL) leads the nation with 18.45 goals per game.

Not A Bad Start
The Brewers average 14.36 draw controls per game, which gives Vassar its highest national-ranking of #33. Guilford wins 19.5 draw controls per game to lead the nation.

That's Mine! That's Mine!
Palma earns her place in the national-rankings with an average of 2.0 caused turnovers per game. The stat gives her the #75 position and makes her the highest Brewer individual in the rankings. Her season highlight came during the Brewers' 7-6 defeat of Skidmore when she forced six possession changes. She also grabbed a season-high four ground balls and one draw control.

The Golden Assists
Goldstein is #80 in the nation for assists per game with an average of 1.64 while also ranking #109 with a total of 18 helpers. On a side note: Goldstein also has the longest streak of either scoring a goal or making the assist. She has done so in every game this year including her two helpers but no goals game against Old Westbury. Including how Goldstein ended her 2013 freshman season, her streak stands at 18. There was only one game her freshman year where she didn't score a goal and two games where she didn't assist on one.

Up Next
The Brewers round out their regular season with their last two home games. First, on Friday, April 25, Vassar hosts the University of Rochester at 4:00 pm for the annual Friends of Jaclyn Day on Weinberg Field. Then the Brewers welcome to the turf field the Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology for a 2:00 pm start on Saturday, April 26.

Saturday's matchup will be seniors Nicole Magney (Chevy Chase, MD/Maret School), Phoebe Tzannes (Lexington, MA/Lexington), Malena Harrang (Bellevue, WA/Forest Ridge School), Zoe Ripecky (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius College Preparatory) and Catherine Fiore's (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex) last game as a Brewer on Weinberg Field during regular season.
