A Look At The Brewers
The Brewers (2-1) constructed a 10-goal first half against Denison University on Sunday evening at Colorado College's Washburn Field to win their final game of spring break, 16-11. Junior goalie
Kate Pula (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) stopped 9-of-20 shots on goal and earned her second win of the season, playing all 60 minutes. Junior
Dara Davis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) and sophomore
Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) both tallied four goals on the day. Goldstein also added two assists while Davis was 2-for-3 from free position.
Davis and Goldstein both have scored in double-figures this season after three games. Davis has found the back of the net 12 times and adds an assist while Goldstein has scored 10 times and assisted twice. Senior
Phoebe Tzannes (Lexington, MA/Lexington) follows the point leaders with eight points off of five netters and a team-high, three helpers.

Brittany Botticelli (Commack, NY/Commack) lead the defensive side of play with nine ground balls each and Palma also leads with six caused turnovers on the season. Junior

A Look At The Knights
Mount Saint Mary dropped a 16-9 local matchup to SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday evening. The Knights had a glimpse of victory in sight early on when their comeback, led by Katie Gattoni, was within one goal, 4-3. New Paltz placed the next goals on the scoreboard in its favor. Even with an early goal into the start of the second half from Katie McGinnis, the Hawks added to their 8-4 lead with another scoring spree of five goals.
Gattoni is leading the Knights with eight goals. Claire Duffy follows with four goals and one assist. Six other Mount Saint Mary players have one goal and four others have been credited with assists. Molly Bauer leads the Knights with 10 ground balls.
Against Mount Saint Mary All-Time
The Brewers and Knights only met once before. In last year's meeting, Vassar took the 19-7 win.
A Look At The Panthers
Old Westbury now sits with a losing streak of three since their defeat by Bard College, 12-8 on Saturday evening. Courtney Gallagher, Sara Bey and Jessica Walker all scored two goals for the Panthers. The game was tied three times before Bard's Stephanie LaMont and Brianna Bean scored in back-to-back series for a 5-3 lead. Gallagher brought the Panthers within one 6-7 at the end of the first half. The Raptors scored the next three goals, putting the game out of reach of Old Westbury.
Gallagher and Bey have nine and eight goals, respectively. Maria Dischley has recovered 17 ground balls this season with Bey in pursuit with 10. Bey also leads the Panthers with 15 draw controls and Dischley has won 13.
Jackie Cartagena has 41 saves and has allowed 69 goals.
Against College At Old Westbury All-Time
These two teams met last year for the first time with the Brewers earning the shutout, 11-0 win.
New York Team…Only Three Players From The Empire State
Out of the 23-player roster, only three members are from the Empire State. All three are starters and all three are defenders. Captain Palma, Toland and Botticelli are all from New York. The remaining 20 players hail from Connecticut (4), Massachusetts (3), New Jersey (3), Pennsylvania (2), Maryland (2), California, Illinois, Michigan, New Hampshire, Texas and Washington.
The Ones That Really Count Are Getting Closer
The Brewers only have these upcoming two games and one more on the road at Western Connecticut State University before opening their 2014 Liberty League play, hosting Skidmore College on Friday, March 28 at 4:00 pm. The remaining eight games after that are all vital League contests. From April 5 until April 19, the Brewers will be on the road, facing five opponents.
Brewers Chasing Down No. 1
Vassar is in second place in the Liberty League in draw controls per game, woman-up goals per game, shots on goal per game, shots per game and goals per game. The Brewers are behind the Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester in four of those five categories.
