    HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY (February 8, 2014) – The Vassar College men's tennis team defeated Clark University at the Taconic Tennis Club Saturday evening in a 5-0 decision.

    Sophomore captain Christian Phelps (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire Memorial) and freshman Alexander Luckmann (Berkeley, CA/Head-Royce School) won the singles points that clinched the win. Phelps defeated Spencer Pinkney, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot while Luckmann got the No. 6 6-4, 6-2 win over Josh Burger.

    Sophomore captain Daniel Cooper (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) and sophomore Evan Udine (Delray Beach, FL/Boca Raton Community) took the No. 1 doubles win over Dan Stein and Fernando Pinoargote 8-2. Phelps teamed with junior Christian Lyon (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) for a 9-7 win at No. 2 over Antonie Martin and Pinkney. Freshman Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Preparatory School) and sophomore Sha Huang (Austin, TX/Saint Stephens Episcopal) earned the No. 3 win against Zack Goodstein and Phillip Porter, 8-3.

    The Brewers will next travel to face the United States Coast Guard Academy on Sunday, February 9 at 1:00 pm.
