POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 22, 2014) – Sophomore Kelsey Van Noy (Houston, TX/Duchesne Academy Sacred Heart) defeated Sharon Resnikoff 6-0, 6-4 in No. 5 singles to clinch the match-winning point Saturday afternoon at the Walker Field House against Muhlenberg College.

Van Noy's first set was even faster than the score depicted and thoughts of her owning the match-clincher were plentiful. "We knew Kelsey would get the point and she deserved it with how fast her first set went," junior Samantha Schapiro (Milford, NJ/Rutgers Preparatory School) said.

Van Noy teamed with freshman Emily Hallewell (Washington, DC/Stone Ridge School Sacred Heart) for a tough win at No. 2 doubles, 8-6 over the Mules' (0-1) Sara Finger and Resnikoff. Schapiro and freshman Shayna Becker (Murrieta, CA/University) paired up at No. 1 for a solid 8-1 victory against Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman.

Senior captain Lindsay Kantor (Westhampton Beach, NY/Westhampton Beach) and sophomore Lauren Stauffer (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) topped Jennifer Goldberg and Gabriela Contino 8-3 at No. 3.

Stauffer was the first singles player to finish. She earned a No. 4 lineup, 6-1, 6-0 win over Goldberg before Van Noy's victory.

Schapiro defeated Sanders 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, Hallewell topped Szulman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 and freshman Connie Yoo (Irvine, CA/Beckman) won at No. 6 singles over Jamie Rosenblum.

The Brewers will next travel to Saratoga Springs, NY to face Liberty League rivals, the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 pm.
