NEW YORK, NY (December 6, 2014) -- The Vassar College women's squash team rebounded from a 6-3 loss Friday night with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Fordham University Saturday afternoon.
The Brewers (3-3) weren't threatened at all by the Rams, as Vassar never dropped a set on the afternoon. Freshman
Hannah Nice (Hanover, NH/Hanover) earned her sixth win of the season at No. 1, knocking off Alison Blitz 11-2, 11-1 and 11-3. Senior
Karina Primelles (Mexico City, Mexico/American School of Mexico) also had no problems at No. 2, earning a 11-2, 11-2 and 11-8 victory.
Both Primelles and Nice are tied for the team lead with six victories after their wins on Saturday. Sophomore
Isabelle Bertram (Salt Lake City, UT/West) was stellar, as she knocked off Sara Kamillatos 11-0, 11-0 and 11-3, while
Carly Scher (Penn Valley, PA/Herriton) moved to 3-3 at the No. 4 position with a 11-2, 11-2 and 11-8 win.
Freshman
Cherylann Mucciolo (Shohola, PA/Blair Academy) chalked up her fifth win of the year, earning a 11-2, 11-3 and 11-2 win, while senior
Roxanne Ringer (Ridgefield, CT/Home School) surrendered just 14 points in knocking off Caroline Stapleton at the No. 6 spot.
Senior
Ellie Opdahl (Tokyo, Japan/Cate School) had no problems at No. 7, knocking off Catherine Oliver 11-4, 11-1 and 11-3. Junior
Steph Zhu (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) earned her second straight victory and fifth overall, defeating Maddie Wright 11-3, 11-7 and 11-4. Freshman
Emma Glickman (Linvingston, NJ/Golda Och Academy) earned her second win this season, and first in a dual match, with a 11-2, 11-4 and 11-3 win over Olivia Micci-Smith.
The Brewers have the rest of the year off before getting back into the swing of things January 24, 2015 against Haverford College.
