POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 3, 2013) – The Sage Colleges upended nationally 10th-ranked host Vassar College on Men's Volleyball Senior Night at Kenyon Hall Wednesday evening, outlasting the Brewers in five sets 13-25, 25-13, 25-20, 16-25, 19-17.
After trading 25-13 routs in the first two sets, the visiting Gators took the upper hand with a 25-20 win in set three. The Brewers would fight back for a 25-16 win in the fourth set to extend the match to five, where despite multiple match points for both sides the action would continue beyond the usual 15-point finish line. Dylan Krowicki's kill finally earned match point for Sage at 19-17.
The loss dropped the 10th-ranked Brewers to 19-11 on the season; Vassar will visit United Volleyball Conference rival NYU for a non-league match at 7:00 pm Tuesday. With the win, the Gators improve to 23-6 on the season. Sage is at Mount Saint Vincent tomorrow evening in Skyline Conference action.

John Konow handed out 47 assists.
Andy Fishman led all players in the match with 18 kills to pace Sage to the upset win. Krowicki (14 kills, 14 digs) and Spencer Hilland (11 kills, 14 digs) also had double-doubles with Kyle Ray (45 assists) and Cory Gransbury (12 digs) also putting up good statistics for the Gators.
A pre-match ceremony honored Vassar's six seniors for their hard work and dedication to the men's volleyball program over the past four seasons. Those upperclassmen were Caldwell, Konow, La Du,
Patrick Donohue,
Matt Elgin and
Dave de la Torre.
