#10 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Lancaster Bible, Falls to #6 New Paltz to Conclude Vassar Invitational
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 30, 2013) – The 10th-ranked Vassar College men's volleyball team earned a split for the second consecutive day in the Vassar Invitational, cruising past Lancaster Bible College in three sets before falling in three sets to sixth-ranked New Paltz at the Athletics and Fitness Center Saturday afternoon.
The Brewers used a balanced team effort to put away Lancaster Bible 25-21, 25-14, 25-21 in the morning match as five players notched at least five kills apiece. Senior outside hitter

Patrick Donohue, freshman outside hitter
Erik Halberg and junior outside hitter
Joe Pyne led the way with six kills each; Pyne added a team-high nine digs while Donohue recorded five blocks. Sophomore setter
Colin White-Dzuro dished out 18 assists with senior
John Konow adding 15 for the Brewers.
Joey Brennen paced the Chargers with eight kills and five digs while Alex Bahn (15 assists, five kills, four digs) and Miles Herron (14 assists, seven kills) also had solid matches for LBC, which dropped to 12-15 on the season by tourney's end.
Sixth-ranked New Paltz dominated the weekend, going 4-0 in the tournament, and followed up its sweep of formerly undefeated and top-ranked Nazareth by defeating the Brewers in three sets as well in the tournament finale. Set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-19.
Donohue collected a team-high seven kills for Vassar, which is now 19-10 on the season heading into Wednesday's Senior Night matchup against Sage. That match will begin at 7:00 pm in Kenyon Hall. Konow tallied 16 assists and senior libero
Christian La Du notched nine digs. John Lutjen led New Paltz with nine kills and 17 assists with Christian Smith dishing out 14 assists and Victor Tuminelli picking up 15 digs. The Hawks are now 24-5 on the year.
Caldwell was Vassar's representative on the All-Tournament Team; he was joined by Brennen, Lutjen, EJ Wells-Spicer (Nazareth), Rishti Sarkar (NYU-Poly) and Shawn Kennedy (Johnson & Wales).
