WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March 15, 2013) – The Vassar College women's lacrosse team wrapped up their Florida Spring Break Trip with a 19-8 win over Ohio Wesleyan University, Friday morning with three players scoring three or more goals.
Sophomore attacker
Dara Davis recorded four goals and an assist, senior midfielder
Marissa Reilly scored four goals off of four shots and senior defender
Elizabeth Annis added three goals off her three shots and one assist in the win.
The Brewers return home with a spotless, 2-0 record as they next host Mount Saint Mary College at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 19. The Battling Bishops drop to 1-5 on the season and will next travel to Alliance, OH to face Mount Union at 1:00 pm on March 23.
It took 43 seconds for Reilly to put in her first goal of the day. Davis followed less than a minute later with a goal at 28:18 (
Malena Harrang assist).
After another Reilly goal with 26 minutes remaining in the first half (Davis assist), the Bishops scored their first two goals, making the score, 3-2. Meredith Wholley (Patricia Ryan assist) scored the first while Meg Doherty scored the second (Ryan assist). This was the closest that Ohio Wesleyan would come to tying the game as the Brewers responded with four, unanswered goals.
The Bishops did go on a two-goal run in the final minute of play with a goal from Annie Swanson with 46 seconds remaining and Theresa Wolfgang with one second left, making it an 11-6 Brewer game.
Vassar opened the second half with seven-straight goals in the first 18 minutes of play.
Wholley had two goals and one assist for Ohio Wesleyan and was followed by Swanson with two goals.
Sophomore defender
Evie Toland led the Brewers in ground balls with four. Vassar totaled 22 in the game, 14 in the first half. The Bishops had 11 on the game.
