ALLENTOWN, PA (February 23, 2013) – The No. 19 nationally ranked Vassar College women's tennis team swept a solid Muhlenberg College team, 9-0 Saturday afternoon in the Deitrich Field House.
Northeast Regionally ranked No. 7 sophomore
Ava Sadeghi and senior
Jennifer Ruther had the closest singles matches of the day. Sadeghi defeated Muhlenberg's No. 1 Nina Sanders in three sets, 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-4 while Ruther closed out a three-set win over No. 5 Amanda von Taube, 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.
Vassar advances to a 2-0 record and will next compete during its Spring Break trip to California when the Brewers face Occidental College on Sunday, March 10 at noon. The Mules start their season with a 0-1 record and will next host Elizabethtown College on March 14 at 3:30 pm.

Natalie Santiago, defeating Jennifer Goldberg and Gabriela Contino, 8-6.
“We were thrilled to see those two matches with our freshmen playing,” head coach
Kathy Campbell said. “It was especially nice to clinch those matches with composure.”
Sadeghi and sophomore
Samantha Schapiro won their doubles match, 8-1. “Sam (Schapiro) and Ava (Sadeghi) played beautifully in doubles today,” Campbell said. “They were hitting well and setting the points up.”
Junior
Lindsay Kantor won the third tiebreaker for the Brewers against No. 4 Resnikoff, 7-5, 6-3. “Muhlenberg was a good team and they played well,” Campbell said. “We were just slightly more consistent and we hit more finishing shots.”
