POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 25, 2012) -- The Vassar College men's tennis team topped the United States Coast Guard Academy 7-2 on Saturday at the Dutchess Racquet Club.

The Brewers (5-1) return to action at Walker Field House this Sunday against Drew at 12:00 p.m. and No. 30 Skidmore at 4:00 p.m. The Bears (4-2) return to action against Brandeis on March 24.

The Brewers swept doubles for a 3-0 lead and then sealed the victory with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. At No. 1 doubles, the No. 6 ranked Andrew Guzick and Ben Guzick topped Greg Mitchell and Nick Martin 8-5. Kartik Kapoor and Dan Freemna rolled 8-2 over Josh Fischer and David Blystone 8-2 at No. 2 and Wilson Platt and Nick Jasso cruised 8-1 over Blake Maurer and Wes Figaro at No. 3.

In singles, Ben Guzick picked up a couple breadsticks 6-1, 6-1 against Maurer at No. 2. At. No. 1 against Mitchell, Andrew Guzick took the first set comfortably 6-1 and prevailed 7-4 in the second set tiebreaker.
