POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 24, 2012) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team swept Muhlenberg College 9-0 in its home-opener on Friday evening at Walker Field House.

The Brewers (2-1) return to action with their Spring Break trip to Southern California, facing Occidental on March 4 at 10:00 a.m. The Mules (0-1) host Elizabethtown on Thurday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m.

Vassar took a quick 3-0 lead after doubles, led by Hannah Van Demark and Lindsay Kantor's 8-0 win over Jennifer Goldberg and Gabriela Contino at the No. 2 position.

"In the doubles our volleys were crisp on every court and we took the net away from the opponents in a domineering fashion," said head coach Kathy Campbell. "It's nice to see this early in the season. We only gave up four games in the three doubles matches and that momentum carried into singles."

Vassar wasted no time sealing the victory as Jennifer Beckerman raced to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nina Sanders at No. 1 and Ava Sadeghi blanked Emily Szulman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 to reach five points.
