POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 16, 2012) – The Vassar College men's basketball team started their 2012-13 season with a win over NYU-Polytechnic Friday evening during the Vassar Tip-Off Tournament and will play Hunter College for the championship.

Vassar Notes: The Brewers return ten players this year. Out of the ten players, senior guard
Jon Herzog brings the most experience to the team. Herzog finished last season with 256 points, averaging 11.1 per game. He went 41-52 from the line and started in 23 out of 25 games.
Sophomore forward
Alex Snyder led the team last year in rebounds with 146, averaging 5.8 per game. He was third on the team in scoring with 198 points and a 7.9 a game. Despite finishing the season 9-16 (5-11 Liberty League), the Brewers built tremendous momentum in the final stretch. Vassar won three out of its last five games.
"We're very excited about the first home game of the season," head coach Del Harris said. "The most important thing is to keep our composure from start to finish."

NYU-Poly 2012-13 Schedule
NYU-Polytechnic Notes: The Fighting Blue Jays finished last year 4-21 (2-16 Skyline). NYU-POLY dropped its 14 games of the season before winning on the road at Maritime College 70-50.

Hunter 2012-13 Schedule
Hunter Notes: The Hawks finished 11-15 (6-6 CUNY) last season. Hunter made last year's CUNY/Con Edison Men's Basketball Championships last year. The Hawks lost in the opening round to Baruch College 68-66 in overtime. Hunter came from behind to defeat Cazenovia 63-60.

Cazenovia 2012-13 Schedule
Cazenovia Notes: The Wildcats ended last season 8-16 (5-10 NEAC). Senior Matt Perry leads the Wildcats with 13.8 points per game. Cazenovia led most of the game against Hunter College. They will next face NYU-Poly in the consolation game.
Tip-Off Tournament Notes: Saturday's consolation game will be the Cazenovia College Wildcats against NYU-Polytechnic and starts at 2:00 pm. Vassar will play the Hunter College Hawks in the championship game at 4:00 pm
