BUFFALO, NY (February 5, 2011) – Weather cancellations have caused the Vassar College men's volleyball season to get off to a slow start, as the Brewers have had their last three matches postponed due to snow storms. On Saturday, Vassar was playing its first match in a week, facing Medaille College in United Volleyball Conference Crossover Match. Medaille prevailed in a close four-setter 3-1 (26-28, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25).
The Brewers (3-4) will conclude the second day of the UVC event on Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. match against Elmira.
Against Medallle, the Brewers got two season-best performances from senior
Evan Fredericksen who had 20 kills with only four attack errors on 35 attempts, a .457 hitting percentage. Sophomore Matthew Elgin had a 12 kill performance without a single miscue on 19 attempts. As a team, the Brewers hit .365, one of the best outings of the young season.
