BUFFALO, NY (February 5, 2011) – Weather cancellations have caused the Vassar College men's volleyball season to get off to a slow start, as the Brewers have had their last three matches postponed due to snow storms. On Saturday, Vassar was playing its first match in a week, facing Medaille College in United Volleyball Conference Crossover Match. Medaille prevailed in a close four-setter 3-1 (26-28, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25).

The Brewers (3-4) will conclude the second day of the UVC event on Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. match against Elmira.

Against Medallle, the Brewers got two season-best performances from senior Evan Fredericksen who had 20 kills with only four attack errors on 35 attempts, a .457 hitting percentage. Sophomore Matthew Elgin had a 12 kill performance without a single miscue on 19 attempts. As a team, the Brewers hit .365, one of the best outings of the young season.

Sophomore setter John Konow had 41 of Vassar's 43 set assists. Sophomore libero Christian La Du continued his double figure dig matches, earning 12 against Medaille.
