The Brewers improve their record to 3-3 and will have a week off to prepare for a match at Williams College on Tuesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. The Gators fall to 0-3 and will continue looking for their first victory of the season on Friday, September 10 at 4 p.m. against New York University in the opening round of the Nazareth Golden Flyer Invitational.

McGuire and Ditmore led the way for the Brewers, recording seven and six kills, respectively. For Ditmore, it marks a career-high in her young six-match career. Sophomore setter Hilary Koenigs contributed 16 set assists to go along with four kills and four digs, while senior libero Chelsea Mottern notched 24 digs in the match along with three service aces.

For Sage, senior Nicole Corbett led the way with eight kills followed closely by classmate Cheryce Harvey with six. Freshman Joanie Cooney had 16 set assists and junior Kelsey Wilson notched 21 digs.

After two sets in which the Brewers dominated right from the start, Sage put up a good fight in the final set, as the two teams battled back and forth to keep the match tied at 10-10. It was then that Vassar took over the set, receiving multiple kills from Ditmore as well as fellow freshman Vanessa Baker to pull ahead, 22-16. Despite a couple of kills from Corbett, the Brewers were able to outlast the Gators and take advantage of errors to close out the set, 25-19, to win the match.

The second set of the match saw the Brewers pull out to an 8-1 lead, behind a couple of McGuire kills. The Brewers never relinquished control of the match, receiving kills from freshman Rose Carman and sophomore Cebe Loomis to pull ahead, 20-9. Despite three straight kills from Corbett, the Brewers the finished the Gators off easily, 25-13, with the winning point coming off a McGuire kill.

As in the second set, the Brewers pulled ahead early in the opening set as senior Julianna Simon served the first five points straight, including one of her three service aces in the match. Sage miscues allowed the Brewers to extend as large as 18-4 before the Gators received a kill from Harvey. Kills from Carman, McGuire, and Koenigs as well as a service ace by sophomore Hannah Cassius completed the Brewers quick win of the first set, 25-8.
