TUCSON, AZ (March 19, 2010) – Capping a successful week of training, the Vassar College men's track and field team had a strong showing at the mixed-division Willie Williams Classic hosted by the University of Arizona on Friday evening.
“This was a great week of training out in the desert, capped off by a great meet,” said head coach
James McCowan. “ The winds were heavy in the afternoon, but conditions for the twilight meet were excellent.”
Freshman Samuel Wagner led the Brewers in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.5 with sophomore
Zach Williams following barely a second behind Wagner. Senior
Ges Adams and sophomore
Matt Blair also had strong performances in the 1500m.
In the 5K, freshman
Roni Teich and sophomore
William Healy recorded strong early season times.
“Overall, this was our most successful spring break competition and the entire trip was an excellent time for the team,” said McCowan.
The Brewers return to action at the RPI Invitational next Saturday, March 27.
