After losing the first two games by just a few points, the Brewers came out with a vengeance in the third set and jumped out to a 6-3 lead behind kills from Bavosa and McGuire. The Ducks however, were not to be outdone and with the score at 8-6 in Vassar's favor, scored six straight points to go ahead 12-8. A pair of Ditmore kills and a strong defensive showing allowed the Brewers to narrow down the Stevens lead to just a point, 21-20. Despite the Brewer intensity, the Ducks were able to rail off four straight points behind a pair of kills from Majcher to prevail in the final set, 25-21.
No team was able to gain a lead of more than three points in the second set, as the two squads battled their way to a 12-12 tie with the Brewers receiving kills from Bavosa, McGuire, Ditmore, freshman Rose Carmen and senior
Julianna Simon. The Brewers pulled ahead briefly behind a couple of dominant kills from McGuire, but a Kowalska kill as well as a couple Brewer attack errors evened the score at 20. Stevens finished the match with a strong attack, finishing off the Brewers 25-22 with kills from three different players.
Stevens set the tone early in the first set, jumping out to a 6-1 lead, but the Brewers quickly recovered behind consecutive Bavosa-Ditmore blocks and a kill from Bavosa. The teams again went back and forth and the Brewers used an intense and gritty defense to stay in the game, forcing the Stevens hitters out of their comfort spots and into attack errors. The Brewers fought off the Ducks to a score of 19-18 after a Bavosa kill, but the Ducks again came on strong at the end of the set, scoring the last six points to win it, 25-18.
