Brewers Extend Winning Streak to Six, Over New Paltz, 15-5

NEW PALTZ, NY (April 22, 2009) – Nine different players scored at least one goal and the Vassar women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to six games with a comfortable 15-5 victory over SUNY New Paltz in non-conference action at The Turf Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Vassar improves to 9-6 on the season and next faces Rochester on the road in a crucial Liberty League contest on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. A victory by the Brewers would earn them one of four spots in the Liberty League playoffs. New Paltz drops to 2-11.

Sarah Warner and Jessica Albert each scored three goals for the Brewers, Albert collecting her goals all in the second half. Moe Byrne had a pair of goals and two assists. Christine Eaccarino# tallied two goals and her assist of an Albert goal with 10 minutes left in the game was her 56th career assist, surpassing Chapel Love for second place on the all-time list.

The Hawks were led by Sam DelGaudio and Kim Hall with two goals apiece and Krista Hannaford scored her first collegiate goal.

Eaccarino put Vassar on the board first just 1:26 into the game. The Hawks would even the score a minute later when Sam DelGaudio netted her 25th goal of the year. Vassar scored five straight goals by Elizabeth Feltch, Eaccarino, Maura McCarthy, Jennie McAllister and Warner.  That run pushed Vassar ahead 6-1 with 14:47 remaining.

The Hawks would cut into the lead as Hannaford netted her first of the career and DelGaudio netted her second of the game to pull the Hawks with three at 6-3. Kim Hall scored with four seconds remaining in the half to cut the lead to 6-4.

In the second half, Vassar scored nine straight goals. Warner scored just 1:11 into the half and Albert scored a minute later for Vassar on a free-position shot. Warner would score two straight just 1:45 apart for a 10-4 lead with 22:58 remaining.

Two consecutive goals by Albert and one each by Emily Kloppenburg and Morgan Namian ended Vassar's scoring for the afternoon with 14:45 remaining in the game.

Nicole Englehardt earned the win in net for the Brewers allowing five goals and saving four shots. Lorraine Vultaggio recorded the loss in net allowing 15 goals and saving 12.
