Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March 13, 2009) -- Despite taking an early 1-0 lead, the Vassar women's lacrosse team fell behind to Ithaca College 11-3 at halftime and didn't have enough offensive firepower to overtake the Bombers, losing 19-7 in their final spring trip Florida game Friday afternoon.

Now 2-1 on the season, Vassar will travel to Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, March 18 for its next home game. The Brewers will play their home opener the following day at Weinberg Field against New England College at 4:00 p.m.

The Brewers got a pair of goals and an assist from junior Jennie McAllister (Bayshore, NY/Bashore) and single goals from five other players. Sophomore Nichole Englehardt (Longhorn, PA/The George School) took the loss in goal for Vassar, making eight saves on the afternoon. In total, Ithaca held a 34-21 advantage in shots.

Following a goal from senior Christine Eaccarino (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook) with 13:23 to play in the first half that brought Vassar within a goal at 4-3, Ithaca scored the next seven straight goals for its 11-3 halftime lead.

The Bombers tacked on three more goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 14-3 and secure the victory.
