CANTON, NY (November 22, 2009) -- The Vassar College women's squash team left no question as to who the premier team in the Liberty League is, downing William Smith College 8-1 to win a second consecutive Liberty League Championship on Sunday at St. Lawrence University's Robie Squash Center. The Brewers defeated St. Lawrence by the same score on Saturday.
The Brewers improve to 3-0 and will next host Amherst College on December 5 at 1:00 p.m.
Vassar picked up a strong win from senior captain
Emilie Kraft at the top of the ladder, as she defeated William Smith's Julia Steck, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7. Junior No. 2
Kristine Bell recovered from a tough first game loss to defeat Heron Medora Hartz in four games, 11-13, 11-3, 11-8, 11-7. At No. 3, senior captain
Hope Blinkoff rebounded from a 3-1 loss to St. Lawrence with a 3-1 win of her own, 11-5, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8, over Katie Mullen of William Smith. Freshman
Libby Pei held her own at the No. 4 spot, sweeping Heron Sarah Hallberg, 11-5, 11-2, 11-2.
