Women's Lax Displays Offense In 14-4 Win Over WestConn

DANBURY, CT (April 15, 2008) -- Four different Vassar College players scored two goals apiece as the Brewers defeated Western Connecticut State University, 14-4 in a non-league women's lacrosse match at the WestConn Athletic Complex Tuesday afternoon. Vassar raced out to an 11-2 halftime lead and employed a controlled offensive scheme over the final 30 minutes.

Allie Morgan (Nashua, NH), Moe Byrne (Lindenhurst, NY), Julie Lehman (Concord, NH) and Christine Castellan (Media, PA) each found the back of the net twice as Vassar College improved to 8-2 on the season. Morgan and Byrne paced the Brewers with three and two assists, respectively.

Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, CT) scored all four unassisted goals for the Colonials, now 0-12 on the season.

Nicole Engelhardt (Longhorn, PA) earned the victory in net for Vassar. After coming on with nine minutes elapsed in the contest, she made seven saves. Ariel Nelson (Greenlawn, NY) started the game and made one save before departing.

Angela Vargas (Stonington, CT) made 10 saves for the Colonials.

The Brewers continue their seven game road trip with two big Liberty League games on Friday against Clarkson at 4:00 pm and on Saturday against St. Lawrence at 2:00 pm.
