ORLANDO, FL (March 9, 2008) -- In a spring season where several players have distinguished themselves for Vassar's men's tennis team, the latest is sophomore Jeremy Arthur (New York, NY/Fieldstone), who clinched Vassar's 7-2 victory over the University of Rochester with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. The red-hot Brewers improve to 6-0 in the spring season and will face a stiff test from Wheaton (Ill.) College on Monday, March 10. Wheaton is ranked No. 17 in the ITA Central Region. Vassar is ranked No. 12 in the Northeast.
The victory over the Yellowjackets avenged a 6-3 loss last season in Poughkeepsie. The Brewers lost first and third singles, but had straight set victories in all other singles matches, and got significant contributions from the four through six singles players, including senior Ashish Patil (Silsbee, TX/Monsignor Kelly), junior Jeremy Rosen (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) along with Arthur.
