Capping a superb debut to her collegiate career, freshman Alex Bello was named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-East Region Team as announced at the NGCA Division III Awards Banquet held in Port St. Lucie, Florida on May 14. Bello placed in the top 20 in all eight tournaments Vassar competed in this season, finishing in the top five in four events.
In her first collegiate competition Bello immediately proved a huge addition to the Brewers. Opening the season at the William Smith Invitational on September 13-14, she placed second in a field of 60, shooting a 75 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday for a 153. She claimed medalist honors at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational on September 28, topping a field of 41 with a score of 77 (originally scheduled for two days, the event was shortened to one day due to rain).
In the spring season, Bello placed in the top ten in all three tournaments for the Brewers. She tied for fifth at the Vassar Invitational, tied for third at the Jack Lehman Invitational, and finished in eighth in the Williams Spring Invitational.
