2016-2017:
XC: Gittens had a stellar senior season...ran in five races for the Brewers, coming in top 12 for VC in each one...had a standout performance at the Saratoga Invitational to run a 5k personal best of 19:52.4, earning an eighth place finish among the Vassar squad...earned a 6k personal record the following race as she crossed the finish line in 24:08.2 at the Seven Sisters Championships...took first for VC and ninth overall in her last collegiate cross country race at the ECAC Championships.
Track: Had the fastest 400m (1:00.26), 800m (2:16.77), and 4x400m relay (3:59.11) on the team…had the fourteenth fastest 200m (27.92), the fifth fastest 400m (1:00.26), the second fastest 800m (2:16.77), the twentieth fastest 1500m (5:01.74), the fastest 4x400m relay (3:59.11), and the third fastest 4x800m relay (9:46.55) in the entire Liberty League…competed in an impressive 19 events this season…started off the season with an immediate personal collegiate best time in the 1500m of 5:01.74 at the 22
nd Annual Monmouth Season Opener…finished first and had a seasonal best time in the 4x800m relay of 9:46.55 and finished second in the 400m with a time of 1:00.91 at the Ramapo College Track & Field Invitational…finished third in the 4x400 relay at the TCNJ Invitational with a time of 4:06.78…earned a seasonal best time in the 200m of 27.92 at the Silfen Track & Field Invitational…finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:03.90 and finished third in the 400m with a seasonal best time of 100.26 at the Liberty League Championships…earned a seasonal best time in the 4x400m relay of 3:59.11 at the Penn Relays…finished first at the Matthew Vassar Twilight meet in the 800m event with a time of 2:17.94…ended the season finishing second and earning a personal collegiate best time in the 800m of 2:16.77 and finishing fourth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:00.48 at the Oneonta Final Qualifier.
2015-2016:
XC: Gittens came a long way from the 800m, the longest distance she has run in track for the Brewers, to run her first collegiate season of cross country at Vassar...ran a total of five meets this year for VC...started off with a 19th place finish at the SUNY New Paltz Season Opener in a time of 13:04...had a strong showing at the Saratoga Invitational, running 21:17 at her first cross country course of her college career...ran 25:27 for her first ever 6k at the Geneseo Invitational...had a great finish to her season at the Liberty League Championships with a personal best of 25:24.
Track: Started off the season with a personal best of 27.54 in the 200M...Finished first in the 800M at the Osprey Open with a time of 2:26.69... Also topped the board at the Silfen Invitational as a part of the 4x4 squad with a time of 4:04.52...Finished 2nd in the 800 at the indoor Crowell Open with a time of 2:27.77...Came in 1st at the Matthew Vassar Twilight Meet in both the 800 and the 4x4 with times of 2:17.50 and 4:05.56 respectively...Crossed the finish in 4th at the ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships in the 4x4 with a tome of 3:56.72.
2014-15:
Track: Continue to progress as a sprinter for the Brewers, and had a very solid season running the 200, 400 and 800 meters for Vassar...also was a standout on the 4x400 and 4x100 relays...posted a personal-best time in the 800 meters at the Yale Springtime Invitatinal (Apr. 26), as she ran a 2:22.31, finishing 11th...earned points at the Liberty League Championships in the 400 meter dash, as she took home fourth place with a personal-best 1:00.56...part of the 4x400 meter relay champions at the league meet, as Vassar rank a 3:59.04...posted her best 200 meter dash time at the Shamrock Invitational, finishing in 27.97...ran with the 4x400 meter squad at the ECAC Championships to finish the season.
2013-14:
Track: Started her Vassar career at the Monmouth Season opener, running a 1:06.93 in the 400 meters...improved by over a season her next time out, running a 1:05.10 in the 400m dash at the Ramapo Invite...finished seventh overall at the Liberty League Championships in the 400 meters...ran a personal-best 28.72 in the 200 at the Yale Springtime Invitational...posted a third place finish in the 400 meters at the Matthew Vassar Invite, running a 1:00:74.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: A multi-sport athlete at Academy at the Lakes, competed in track, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and cross country...in recognition of her contributions, her school renamed the Ironman Award the "Alex Gittens Ironman Award"...undefeated in tennis her senior year...in basketball, three times district champions, twice advanced to the state final four, and once won the state championship...qualified for the regional meet in track and cross country.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Nadeen Gittens...has one sister, Tristen.
