XC: Ran one race this season after dealing with an injury...raced strong at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championships, taking eighth for Vassar...earned a personal best 6k time of 23:50.6 despite not racing all season.
Track: Liberty League All Academic Team…had the ninth fastest 1500m time in the entire Liberty League this season (18:33.90)…competed in eight events this season…placed ninth in the 1500m and earned a season best time of 5:08.61, and placed thirteenth in the 800m with a season best time of 2:33.86 at the Ramapo College Track & Field Invitational…placed third in the 300m with a personal collegiate best time of 10:42.85 at the 2017 TCNJ Invitational…finished fifth and earned a personal collegiate best time of 18:33.90 in the 5000m at the Liberty League Championships…placed eighth in the 5000m event with a time of 18:34.06 at the Matthew Vassar Twilight meet.

XC: Played a large role from her first race as a Brewer...ran in the top seven for five out of the six races competed in...ran 2nd for VC at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational with a time of 19:58...earned the 3rd place spot for the women as she clocked 19:09 at the Saratoga Invitational...ran her 6k PR at the Seven Sisters Championship with an impressive 24:19.
Track: Participated in 7 meets, running in 5 separate events...Finished 2nd in the 1500 at the Osprey Open with a time of 5:05.93...Also placed 2nd at the Matthew Vassar Twilight meet in the 5000 with a time of 18:46.01...Came in 5th at the St. John Fisher College Last Chance Meet in the 800 with a time of 2:28.71.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Earned varsity letters for the Tigers of Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina...lettered in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track...was named co-captain as a junior and senior...earned All-Conference as a junior and senior, as well as All-Region during her senior campaign...was a state honoree as a junior and senior in indoor track...helped her cross country team to a state runner-up finish in 2014...National Honor Society member...also was inducted to the National French Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Parents Kathy and Greg Matera...has one sibling, Bret (23)...majoring in environmental studies...chose Vassar over Wesleyan, Oberlin, Brandeis, William & Mary, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, American University and Elon.
