2019: A leader by example for the Brewers squad, Diehl wrapped-up his career in the 2019 season, playing in 23 matches - 20 as a starter … Appeared in 89 sets over that span … Finished fourth on the team in kills with 190 for a 2.13 per set average … Recorded 20 assists and nine service aces on the season … Collected 128 digs for a 1.44 average … Fourth on the team in total blocks with 52 … Ranked fourth in block assists with 48 … Posted at least 10 or more kills in 11 of 23 matches in 2019 … Recorded a season-high 14 kills with eight digs and three block assists in a tough five-set loss to Arcadia on January 19 … Had 11 kills with an assist, while adding two digs and two block assists in a four-set loss to nationally-ranked Springfield on February 2 … Achieved a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs to go along with an assist, an ace and two block assists in a five-set victory against Nazareth on March 9 … Posted his third season-high mark of 14 kills with 10 digs, an assist, a block solo and a season-high five block assists in a tough five-set loss to Marymount (VA) on March 22 … Laid down 12 kills and 12 digs with an assist and a block assist as the Brewers bested NYU in five sets on April 3 … Notched 10 kills with four digs and four block assists in Vassar’s UVC First Round loss to St. John Fisher on April 12.
2018: The returning Junior lead the team by example and determination this season, stepping in as an outside hitter…played in 29 matches, started in 24 of them…finished third on the team with 234 total kills this season and with the second best hitting percentage of .242 of anyone who earned more than 50 kills… finished with the fourth most assists on his team (30)…second most amount of digs on the team, finishing with 179 total digs and an average 1.74 digs per set… finished the season with 63 total blocks, third best on the team…he earned his best hitting percentage on January 19
th hitting .600 against East Mennonite… his best performance was on March 3
rd against ranked UC-Santa Cruz where he earned a double-double, with a season-high 15 kills, ten digs and 3 blocks.
2017: The steady net player for the Brewers expanded his game as a sophomore, playing outside, right side and middle hitter in 2017...finished with 204 kills on the season, which ranked third on the squad...posted 1.82 kills per set, while hitting .226 as a sophomore...posted 85 blocks on the year, averaging 0.76 blocks per set...ranked 10th in the United Volleyball Conference in blocks per set...at the end of the season, was ranked 24th in active NCAA leaders in blocks per set for his career, while also ranking 39th nationally in total blocks with 183...posted a season-high 12 kills against Lakeland on January 20...finished with 11 kills in the season-opener against Hope International on January 11...posted 10 kills in a five-set win over Juniata, posting three service aces...finished with five kills and eight rejections against EMU on January 28...posted five kills, six digs and three blocks against Penn State Behrend...had seven kills on 14 attacks against Sage February 23...in a win over Ramapo, was 9-for-12 with four digs...had 10 matches with nine or more terminations...hit over .400 in eight contests.
2016: The big and athletic hitter played in the middle for Vassar as a freshman, as he became one of the go-to players at the net for Vassar...played in 112 sets in his first year at Vassar, seeing action in all 31 matches...was second on the team in hitting percentage as a freshman, posting a .374 clip while pounding down 175 kills...his kill total was the third-most on the team, as he ranked eighth in the United Volleyball Conference in hitting percentage...posted the 10th most blocks per set with 0.88, while his 98 total rejections were third-most in the conference...was 34th in the country in blocks per set...totaled 10 or more kills twice, including a career-high 11 against Wells January 23...posted at least five kills in 18 of Vassar's 31 matches...posted nine rejections twice this season, tying for the third-most blocks in a match ever against Baruch (Mar. 9) and Medaille College (Mar. 19)...posted at least one block in 29 matches...had 15 aces on the season, including four against Newbury (Feb. 6)...earned UVC Rookie of the Week twice for the weeks of Feb. 22 and Mar. 28.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Was a four-year letter winner and star of the men's volleyball team at Lindburgh...was a team captain from his sophomore to his senior season...was voted as a team MVP during his senior campaign...was a four-year All-Academic honoree...named All-Suburban West as a sophomore, junior and senior...All-State MVP as a junior...posted school records with 5.90 kills per game and 26 kills per match...also hit .460 for his career, and posted 457 kills per season, both LHS records...posted 996 kills for his career...helped his team to a state championship as a junior...AP Scholar and AP Scholar with Honors...part of High Performance Volleyball Club.
