2016 Liberty League All-Academic Team

2016-17:
XC: Finished first for the Brewers in every race this season...started her season on a high note. finishing first overall at the Vassar-New Paltz-Stevens Season Opener, clocking a 11:14.7 for the 3000m race...carried this momentum to the Vassar Ron Stonitsch Invite, leading the team and taking 26th overall in a field of multiple nationally ranked squads...went on to grab the sixth place finish at the Bill Fritz Invitational at Rowan University...ran well at the 2016 Saratoga XC Invitational to cross the finish line at the 18:44.4 mark, taking 17th overall to earn her a top 20 pie prize...ran a then personal best of 22:51.4 at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship, earning her a spot on the First Team All Seven Sisters squad...continued her strong momentum at the Liberty League Championship where she took ninth overall and grabbed a spot on the All Liberty League Second Team...ended her senior XC career at the 2016 Atlantic Regional Championship with a personal best time of 22:23.9, squashing her old personal record set earlier in the season by almost 30 seconds. 

2015-16:
Track: Continued to build her impressive resume, running in 17 events...began the season with two strong individual performances, finishing sixth in the 800 at the Willie Williams Classic and 13th in the 1500 at the Monmouth Season Opener...had one of her best performances at the Silfen Invitational, helping Vassar run away with the 4x400m (4:04.52) and threatening the school record in her ninth place 1500m showing with a time of 4:46.60...scored for the Brewers in both her events at the Liberty League Championship, finishing third in the 800m and helping the 4x400m relay squad finish second, just a second behind St. Lawrence...led the 4x800m relay to a season best 9:29.06 a the Penn Relays...closed the season at the ECAC DIII Championships, finishing 19th in the 800m, 18th in the 4x800m, and breaking four minutes with the 4x400m relay at 3:56.72, good for fourth overall.
XC: Spend her junior season abroad in the fall, missing cross country. 

2014-15:
Track: Had another solid season for the Brewers as a sophomore, running in nine events, most of any VC runner...started the season helping the 4x400 meter relay team to a fifth place finish at the Monmouth Season Opener with a time of 4:03.60...led the same 4x4 group to a runner-up finish at the Silfen Invitational with a time of 4:04.04...finished sixth in the Silfen Invite in the 800, running a 2:20.56...helped the Vassar 4x400 relay to a title at the Liberty League Championships, running a 3:59.04...also earned points in the 800, taking fourth at the conference meet with a 2:21.03...won the 800 meter run at the Matthew Vassar Twilight Meet with a 2:18.53, a season-low time for Balcezak...helped the 4x800 meter relay team finish third overall at the ECAC Championships, blasting the school record with a time of 9:21.21. 
XC: Scored points for Vassar in six races...was the second finisher for the Brewers at the Marist Invitational...ran 18:45 for 5k at the Saratoga Invitational to place fifth for the Brewers and 41st overall out of 201...placed second for Vassar and 22nd overall out of 424 at the James Earley Invitational, running 19:09 for 5k to help the Brewers place second as a team...placed fourth for Vassar at the Liberty League Championship with a season-best 6k time of 23:35...placed sixth for Vassar at the Atlantic Region Championship.

2013-14:
XC: The freshman standout burst onto the scene as one of the best Liberty League newcomers in 2013...never finished outside of the top three for the Brewers in any of her six races...posted a 19:33.30 in her first collegiate race, finishing ninth out of 92 racers at the Vassar Invite...was the third runner in for the Brewers at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invite, finishing 11th out of 194 runners with a time of 24:43.2...posted her personal-best in a 5k at the Saratoga XC Invite, as she traveled the distance in 18:34.5...followed that up with her second-best performance of the year, placing 29th out of 268 at the Pre-Regional Geneseo meet, running a personal-record of 23:06.8...earned All-Seven Sisters after racing to an eighth-place finish with a time of 19:41.2, helping VC to the team title...ended the year with a personal-record over a 6k course at the 2013 NCAA Atlantic Regionals, posting a time of 22:59.6.
Track: Won her heat of the 800m at the Willie Williams Classic with a time of 2:24.64...won her heat of the 400m at the Monmouth Season Opener with a time of 1:03.10...improved her 800m personal best to 2:22.96 at the Ramapo Invite, placing sixth overall out of 55 runners...had an outstanding 1500m race at the RPI Upstate Classic, running a personal best time of 4:56.61to place fourth overall against elite competition...earned First Team and Second Team All-League honors at the Liberty League Championships, placing second in the 800m with a time of 2:22.81 and helping the Brewers 4x400m relay run a championship record time of 4:00.35...ran on the 4x400m relay at the Penn Relays, where the squad clocked 3:54.68, narrowly missing the school record...ran 2:20.59 for 800m at the Yale Springtime Invitational...ran a personal best and ECAC-qualifying time of 2:17.85 at the Vassar Twilight meet...helped the Vassar 4x400 meter relay finish second at the ECAC Championships with a school-record 3:52.55. 
 
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Was a three-sport athlete for the Hilltoppers of Hopkins School...competed all four years in cross country, indoor and outdoor track...was a team captain in all three sports as a senior at Hopkins...classical violinist.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Thomas Balcezak and Soni Clubb...has one sister, Isabel (18)...political science major.
