Geneva, NY - The Vassar College Women's Volleyball team fell in straight sets to conference foe #RV William Smith on Saturday afternoon as the Brewers dropped a 14-25, 23-25, 20-25 decision to the Herons. Vassar's record moves to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play while William Smith improves to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in Liberty League action.

First Set

• William Smith took a 5-2 lead to open the match as Cassidy Breuer buried two kills before VC battled back to even the set at five on a kill from senior Holland Kaplan and a block from junior Erin Lovett and sophomore Elena Feuer.
• The Herons built an 11-7 lead on two kills each from Arielle Newsome and Senya Dorny.
• Consecutive kills from senior Maura McAusland cut the deficit to two before William Smith went on a run to take a 20-11 lead on a kill from Dorny.
• William Smith took the opening set 25-14 on a winner from Sage Duerr.

Second Set

• Vassar evened the set at five following an ace from first year Riley Huang and a kill from classmate Gina O'Connell.
• The lead went back and forth in the middle stages of the set before William Smith pulled in front 16-12 on two aces from Dorny and a kill from Emily Fulton.
• VC scored the next five points to take a 17-16 lead behind a kill each from Kaplan and junior Eleanor Gegen.
• Two winners from Maren Hunt and a kill from Dorny regained the Herons lead at 22-20.
• Vassar scored the next three points, led by a kill each from Feuer and Lovett and a McAusland ace, to go ahead 23-22.
• William Smith tallied the next three points as back-to-back aces from Vanderhoof.

Third Set

• Vassar raced out to a 6-1 lead behind a kill each from Feuer, McAusland and Kaplan.
• William Smith battled back to earn a 8-7 lead on an ace each from Vanderhoof and Breuer along with two kills from Hunt.
• Vassar drew even at 11 on a kill each from O'Connell and McAusland before William Smith pulled ahead 17-12 on a winner from Dorny.
• The Brewres got within four on a kill from Lovett but a VC error gave the Herons the third set victory.

For The Brewers

• Kaplan tallied 12 kills and six digs while McAusland notched nine kills, nine digs and an ace.
• Lovett totaled eight winners, two blocks and three digs along with O'Connell posting three kills.
• Medrano recorded 27 assists and nine digs while senior T Petro lifted eight digs.

For The Herons

• Hunt buried 10 kills (.667) while Breuer registered 10 kills, five aces and eight digs.
• Dorny garnered nine kills (.571), two aces and three digs along with Fulton adding eight kills and 10 digs.
• Newsome chipped in six kills while Delainy Williams finished with 40 assists, two aces and 11 digs.
• Vanderhoof recorded 16 digs and five aces.
