Troy, NY – Following the first event of the fall, Vassar First Year Elliotte Banziger (Missoula, MT) has been named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week in Women's Tennis. Banziger had a strong showing in the Vassar Scramble, posting seven combined wins.
 
Banziger finished the three-day event with a 4-0 record in singles play and teamed with Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) for a 3-1 record in doubles competition.
 
In singles action, Banziger posted a 6-0 win against New Paltz to open the Scramble before scoring a 6-2 victory against Connecticut College, a 7-5 triumph against Hamilton and a 6-4 victory against NYU on Saturday.
 
Teamed with Kirby in four doubles matches over the weekend, Banziger posted a 6-1 win against New Paltz on Friday and added victories against Connecticut College (6-0), Hamilton (6-4) and NYU (6-2) on Saturday.
 
Vassar continues the fall season this weekend when it travels to Bates for Hidden Duels on September 19 and 20.
