Baseball Falls in Road Action at Trinity (CT)

Vassar returns home for Senior Day on Friday against Mount Saint Mary

Hartford, CT - The Vassar College Baseball team fell in the late innings on the road against #RV/RV Trinity (CT), 6-3, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action. The Brewers move to 11-17 overall while the Bantams improve to 22-8 on the season.

How It Happened
  • Vassar opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first as first year Noah Townsend led off with a single and classmate Ethan Fox-Fernandez doubled followed by both scoring on a two-base error.
  • Trinity cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third behind a solo homer from Tyler Bernstein.
  • First year Nick Kreatsoulas blasted his first collegiate homer in the top of the fifth to push the Brewers lead to 3-1.
  • The Bantams got back within one at 3-2 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Dylan Schnitzer.
  • Trinity took its first lead of the game in the seventh on a two-run homer from Timmy Dimizio to go ahead 4-3.
  • Aidan Stern tripled and then scored on a wild pitch followed by a double steal scoring Schnitzer to give the Bantams a 6-3 lead in the eighth.
For The Brewers
  • Fox-Fernandez went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double while Kreatsoulas recorded his first career homer.
  • Townsend, sophomore Dash Edwards and first year Jack Johnson each notched a hit.
  • First year Noah Sternberg took a no-decison after throwing the first three innings, allowing three hits, one run, one walk and struck out three.
  • First year Eric Wallick tossed three innings of relief, allowing one unearned run and struck out three.
  • Junior Grant Maryott took the loss as he went one inning, allowing one hits, two runs, one walk and struck out three.
For The Bantams
  • Domizio garnered a homer, two RBI and a run scored while Schnitzer and Bernstein tallied a hit and a run batted in.
  • Stern and Aidan Stevenson both added a hit.
  • Andrew Gabriel started on the mound and took a no-decision after going 4.1 innings, giving up six hits, three runs (one earned), one walk and struck out six.
  • Matthew Limongelli earned the win in relief after going 1.2 scoreless innings and struck out two while Tyler Fahey picked up the save behind two scoreless innings and struck out three.
