Geneva, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team pushed its winning streak to eight matches and remained unbeaten in conference play on Sunday with a tight 4-3 road win at Hobart. Senior
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) clinched the victory against the Statesmen with a second singles win.
Sunday's win moves Vassar to 13-5 overall on the season and 6-0 in Liberty League play, while Hobart falls to 8-8 overall and 2-5 against league rivals.
Doubles
- Vassar scored wins at the second and third doubles positions on Sunday to earn the point against the Statesmen.
- Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) clinched the doubles point on Sunday with their fifth straight victory, a 6-3 second position win.
- Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) cruised to a 6-0 win at the third slot, earning their ninth straight win.
Singles
- Vassar was victorious at the second, third and fifth positions in singles play to earn the victory.
- Bauermeister clinched the win for Vassar with a 6-3, 6-3 second singles victory, his sixth straight victory and ninth singles win of the spring.
- Fellow senior Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) scored a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third slot, improving his singles standing to 7-2 through nine spring decisions.
- At the fifth positions, Santos outlasted Hobart's Tejus Ranadive by scores of 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
