Men’s Tennis Remains Unbeaten In Conference Play With Road Win At RIT

Brewers sweep doubles matches in victory

Rochester, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team remained unblemished in conference play and won its seventh straight match Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 road victory at RIT. Junior Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) won his ninth straight singles decision and team leading 11th singles match of the season in the victory.
 
Saturday's win improves Vassar to 12-5 overall on the season and 5-0 against league rivals with RIT slipping to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in conference matches.
 
Doubles
  • Vassar earned a 1-0 lead in the match with victories at all three doubles flights.
  • Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) won for the sixth straight outing and improved to 10-4 on the season with 6-1 victory at the top flight.
  • At second doubles, Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) won their fourth straight match together with a 6-3 triumph against the Tigers.
  • The Brewers' third pair of Lee and Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) moved their winning streak to eight matches after outlasting RIT's third unit 7-6 (7-1) on Saturday.
 
Singles
  • Lee improved to 11-2 in singles play on Saturday with a ninth straight victory, outlasting RIT's Yu Tanimoto 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
  • Bauermeister improved to 8-5 on the season with a 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-2 victory at the second position.
  • Kubiak was victorious at third singles on Saturday, scoring a 6-3, 6-3 victory for the Brewers.
  • Santos took the fifth singles match on Saturday in a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 decision.
  • At the sixth slot, Shrey Choudhary (Farmington, CT) scored a hard fought 6-7 (9-11), 6-2, 6-4 win.
