Schenectady, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team continued Liberty League play Saturday afternoon with a 16-10 road loss at Union.
Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) led the offense with four points with
Jess Geoghagan (Mercer Island, WA) and
Aiden Santoro (Water Mill, NY) anchoring the defensive effort with 17 saves and six caused turnovers, respectively.
Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in Liberty League play, while the Garnet Chargers improve to 4-10 and 2-2 in conference action.
How It Happened
- Union never trailed in the contest and opened a 4-1 lead with 3:14 left in the opening period on a Brendan Powers tally.
- Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY) got Vassar to within two goals heading into the second stanza, finishing off a feed from Michael Carroll (Glastonbury, CT) with 2:20 left in the opening period.
- The Garnet Chargers outscored Vassar 5-2 in the second frame and got goals from Walker Popko and Luke Allen in the final 7:39 of the frame to carry a 9-4 advantage into halftime.
- Union held a 29-12 advantage in shots over the first 30 minutes and controlled face-offs with an 11-4 edge.
- Vassar cut its disadvantage to 10-8 after a 4-1 run to start the third quarter.
