Orlando, FL – In the first of two matches on Monday in Orlando, the Vassar College Men's Tennis team scored a hard fought victory over Trinity (CT) at the USTA National Campus. The Brewers won all three doubles matches in the contest and First Year
Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) won his team leading fourth match of the spring.
Vassar improves to 5-3 overall on the season with Trinity slipping to 1-3 through its first four decisions.
Doubles
- Vassar's top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) got the Brewers off to a good start in the doubles competition with a 6-1 victory.
- Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) clinched the doubles point for Vassar after scoring a 6-4 win at the third position while improving to 3-2 on the season.
- At the second position, Jia and Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) moved to 4-2 as a unit after scoring a 6-2 victory Monday morning.
Singles
- Jia clinched the victory for Vassar at the fourth position on Monday after outlasting Trinity's Rico Buoro 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 to improve to 4-2 through six spring decisions.
- Kubiak brought Vassar even at 3-3 in the match with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 third singles win, a victory that improved his spring standing to 2-1 in singles play.
- At the top singles flight, Lee moved to 3-2 after earning an impressive 6-2, 6-3 victory for the Brewers.
