Orlando, FL – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team opened day two of its visit to Orlando Friday morning in impressive fashion, blanking St. Norbert 7-0. Sophomore
Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) was victorious for the first time this spring in the victory.
With Friday's morning's victory, Vassar improves to 4-2 overall on the season, while St. Norbert drops to 4-5.
Doubles
- Vassar opened a 1-0 lead in the match after scoring victories at the second and third doubles positions.
- Shrey Choudhary (Farmington, CT) and Sanjay Rajkumar (Olathe, KS) moved to 2-1 on the season after posting a 6-3 second doubles win.
- At the third position, Trevor Hajek (Denver, CO) and Maximus Martin (El Paso, TX) won for the second time in as many matches as a unit with an impressive 6-0 victory.
Singles
- Vassar won all six singles contests to secure the sweep Friday morning.
- Gil made his singles debut in the match and earned a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at the top flight for the Brewers.
- Hajek evened his singles record at 1-1 following a hard fought 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the second slot.
- At third singles, Martin improved to 3-1 in singles matches this spring with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 triumph.
- Avery Frekhtman (Woodmere, NY) won for the second time in as many spring decisions on Friday, scoring a 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 win.
- Rajkumar moved to a perfect 3-0 in singles play this spring and cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 fifth singles victory.
- At the sixth slot, Choudhary blanked the opponent for the Green Knights 6-0, 6-0 and improved to 2-0 on the spring.
