Vassar Takes High Scoring Decision Against Oneonta

13 different Brewers record points in victory

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2026 home schedule Saturday afternoon with a high-scoring 18-13 victory over Oneonta. 13 different Brewers finished the game with a point, led by seven from sophomore Tate Tinker (Lexington, KY).
 
Vassar evens its record at 1-1 with the win while Oneonta slips to 1-3 through its first three games of the season.
 
How It Happened
  • After allowing the first goal of the game, Vassar ripped off the next nine goals, including the final six of the first quarter.
  • Tinker played a big role in the run for Vassar, scoring three times and assisting on two other goals.
  • Thomas Hnis stopped the Vassar scoring run at the 6:32 mark of the second frame, but the Brewers added on three more goals to close the first half to carry a commanding 12-2 lead into the intermission.
  • Travis Heller (Lafayette, NJ) supplied a goal and an assist heading into the break for the Brewers.
  • Vassar held a 30-13 advantage in shots at halftime and dominated face-offs over the first 30 minutes, 12-4.
  • Oneonta flipped the script in the third quarter, outscoring Vassar 8-2 to pull to within 14-10 heading into the final stanza.
  • The Red Dragons tallied six straight goals coming out of halftime, including a pair of player-up markers, to move to within 12-8.
  • Baker Morton (West Hartford, VT) and TJ Carl (Rochester, NY) scored back-to-back goals 53 seconds apart to get the Brewers' lead back out to 14-8.
  • Oneonta responded with the final two goals of the period to pull to within four again.
  • The Red Dragons would get their deficit down to 15-12 on a Jaime O'Neil tally with 10:17 left to play.
  • Vassar answered with three of the final four goals of the game, getting a goal and a helper from Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY), to close out the win.
  • Oneonta held a 27-12 advantage in shots after halftime.
  • Vassar again controlled the face-off 'x' with a 12-7 advantage after halftime.
 
For The Brewers
  • Tinker closed out a big day for the Brewers with seven points on the strength of three goals and four helpers. Tinker added a caused turnover and a groundball to the winning effort.
  • Eads posted his second straight five-point game after totaling three goals and two assists.
  • Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) scored twice and assisted on two goals with Nate Johnson (Franklin, TN) scoring once and helping on two other tallies.
  • Carl, Heller and Nate Krtovil (Stevensville, MD) each recorded a goal and an assist.
  • Beckett Wolf (Park City, UT) potted a pair of goals for the Brewers.
  • First Year Danny Holt (Rochester, MI) dominated face-offs, going 17-for-23 with 11 groundballs.
  • Landon Silverstein (Deer Park, NY) went 6-for-9 in face-offs and secured five groundballs.
  • Kyriakos Ciccone (Southborough, MA) forced a team-high three turnovers and collected three groundballs.
  • Tim Morin (Stow, MA) secured four groundballs.
  • Andrew Timson (Babylon, NY) earned the win in goal with 10 saves.
 
For The Red Dragons
  • Hnis closed a big day with eight points, scoring five times and adding three assists.
  • O'Neil finished the day with four goals and a trio of helpers.
  • Aidan Greene caused three turnovers and scooped five groundballs.
  • Sean Grimes won seven face-offs to lead the team and scooped a pair of groundballs.
  • Mark Restivo made nine first half saves in goal.
  • Ryan Collins came on to turn aside a pair of shots after halftime.
 
Game Statistics
  • Vassar finished with a slim 42-40 advantage in shots, including a 29-23 edge in shots on goal.
  • Face-offs went to the Brewers by a wide 24-11 margin.
  • Vassar won the groundball battle, 37-27.
