Brewers Edged At Hartford In Season Opener

Eads totals five points

West Hartford, CT – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2026 season with a tight 12-9 road loss at Hartford Saturday afternoon. Senior Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY) led the Brewers' scoring attack with five points.
 
Vassar begins the 2026 season at 0-1, while Hartford evens its overall record at 1-1 int eh early going.
 
How It Happened
  • After the two teams traded goals to start the contest, Hartford tallied three straight times to open a 4-1 advantage at the end of the opening quarter.
  • Vassar started the second quarter scoring at the 9:12 mark when Tate Tinker (Lexington, KY) scored for the first time in 2026.
  • The Brewers pulled to within 5-4 on back-to-back goals from Eads and Liam McGuire (Rochester, NY) late in the frame, before Hartford scored three times in the final 3:42 of the first half to carry an 8-4 lead into halftime.
  • Hartford held a 22-11 advantage in shots prior to halftime with Vassar winning eight of the 13 face-offs prior to the break.
  • The Brewers came out of halftime with the first three goals of the third frame with Eads scoring once and assisting on a Tinker player-up goal that sliced the disadvantage to 9-7.
  • Hartford would carry a 10-7 lead into the final stanza after Nick Ugolini scored with 15 seconds left in the period.
