Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season Against Smith

Brewers play first of six home matches Saturday

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team is set to open the 2026 spring schedule Saturday morning when it plays host to Smith inside Walker Field House. Live Video for the 11:00 a.m. match will be available for those unable to attend.

A Look At The Brewers
  • McCusker returns for her senior season after being named First Team All-Liberty League in both singles and doubles in 2025.
  • McCusker posted a 10-6 singles record last year playing out of the top flight and added eight more victories in doubles play.
  • Li had a breakout season as a junior, earning First Team honors in singles play and a Second Team nod in doubles play.
  • Li paced Vassar with a 14-2 record playing at the second position and totaled 13 other victories in doubles competition.
  • Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) secured a 9-4 singles record last spring, including a 7-1 mark against conference foes.
  • Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) burst onto the scene as a First Year with 12 singles victories for the Brewers.
  • Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) is back as a junior after totaling six singles victories and 12 other victories in doubles play, including two teamed with McCucker.
  • Also returning for the Brewers in 2026 are juniors Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) and Esme Nix (Altadena, CA) along with sophomore Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA).
  • First Year Gwendolyn Gray (Montauk, NY) is the lone newcomer to the roster this season and looks to crack the spring lineup starting Saturday.
 
The Schedule
  • Following Saturday's home opener, the Brewers will play eight straight matches on the road.
  • Following visits to Bates and Tufts, the Brewers will head out west to play five matches in California.
  • Liberty League play commences on March 29 at Ithaca with the Brewers also paying visits to league rivals RPI (4/11), RIT (4/18) and William Smith (4/19).
  • The Brewers play host to St. Lawrence on April 4 and will also welcome league rivals Union (4/5), Bard (4/12) and Skidmore (4/25) to Poughkeepsie.
  • Non-conference matches down the stretch include a visit to Rochester on April 17 and a home match against New Paltz on April 12.
