New Orleans, LA - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its weekly national award winners for the week ending October 4 on Monday afternoon as Vassar College Women's Cross Country senior
Haley Schoenegge was named the Division III National Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week and the third time in her illustrious career.
Schoenegge won her fourth straight race of the season at the Running of the Cows Pre-Nationals Navy Championship Race to help lead the #15 Brewers to a 10th place finish out of 35 scoring teams at Carleton College. Schoenegge dominated the 6K race as she finished first overall out of 324 total finishers and turned in a time of 21:07.1, 10 seconds faster than the next closest finisher.
Last week, Schoenegge was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after breaking her own program record by three seconds at the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown with a time of 20:49.2, outpacing her previous best of 20:52.3, to earn a first place finish out of 168 total finishers.
Vassar is off this week and will return to action on Saturday, October 17 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
