Big Second Half Sends #16 Vassar Past RIT

Crowley scores twice in victory

Poughkeepsie, NY – Junior Alice Crowley (St. Louis, MO) scored twice and First Year Claire Vrahoretis (Valparaiso, IN) tallied her first career goal as the #16 Vassar College Women's Soccer team won its rematch of the 2025 Liberty League Championship Final with RIT by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
 
Vassar moves its unbeaten streak to start the season to eight games and improves to 5-0-3 overall on the season and 2-0-1 in league play. RIT slips to 4-3-2 overall through nine games and 2-1-0 against conference rivals.
 
How It Happened
  • A scoreless first half saw Vassar outshoot RPI 9-4 to go along with a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
  • RIT netminder, Ashton Anderson, held Vassar off the board in the opening 45 minutes with a trio of saves.
  • Vassar junior Laura Shea (Swarthmore, PA) made a single save prior to halftime to keep the Tigers scoreless heading into the break.
  • The Brewers finally broke through with that proved to be the deciding goal in the 61st minute.
  • Crowley potted her first of the game at the 60:19 mark to give Vassar all the scoring it would need.
  • Just 72 seconds after the opening goal, Vrahoretis found the back of the net for the first time when she finished off an assist from Ava Holman (St. Louis, MO) at 61:31.
  • Leading by two scores, Crowley struck again in the 74th minute when she deposited a feed from Gianna Panarelli (Jensen Beach, FL) at the 73:56 mark to close out the scoring in the game.
  • Vassar stifled RIT after halftime, allowing just three shots while outshooting the Tigers 9-3.
  • Second half corner kicks went to the Brewers by a 3-1 margin.
  • Shea made one more save in the second half to secure the shutout.
 
For The Brewers
  • Crowley finished off her fourth and fifth goals of the season in the win and sits atop the team leader board in goals and points with 10.
  • Vrahoretis became the 10th different Brewer to score a goal to date in 2026 with her first career marker.
  • Holman picked up her second helper of the season and stands with six points on the season.
  • Panarelli also recorded her second assist of the season and joins Holman in a three-way tie for second on the team in points with six.
  • Crowley led the team with five shots in the contest.
  • Shea recorded her fifth shutout of the season with a pair of saves on Saturday. Shea has now turned aside 18 shots this season and is working to a 0.14 goals against average and a .947 save percentage.
 
For The Tigers
  • Anderson closed the contest with four saves in goal.
  • Lindsay Ford and Elliot McSkimin each posted a team-high two shots.
 
Game Statistics
  • Vassar held the advantage in overall shots 18-7 and shots on goal 7-2.
  • The Brewers took eight of the 12 corner kicks in the contest.
